To realize a better knowledge of the HPCVD deposition and doping process, we carried out synchrotron micro-X-ray fluorescence (XRF) mapping experiments to quantitatively map the distribution of transition steel dopants in HPCVD created Fe2+:ZnSe optical fibers. Micro-XRF is a practical approach because of its significant sensitivity and sub-micron
